Turkey: Finance / How to buy
In Turkey the sale of property to overseas buyers depends on the principles of reciprocity - if the investor's country grants the theoretical right of freehold ownership of property to a Turkish citizen then the overseas buyer will be given permission to buy property in Turkey. Turkey and the United Kingdom have reciprocity in property ownership.
Buying property in Turkey is simpler than in the UK. Regnum International manages the process which generally takes between six to eight weeks.
Foreign nationals may purchase most types of property in Turkey in their own names if and when the time comes to sell, the proceeds of the sale may be transferred out of Turkey.
• When you express an interest in buying a Regnum property, an agreement is prepared setting out the terms and conditions of the purchase. A duly signed copy of that agreement and a copy of the title deed of the property are given to you.
• At this stage, you are only required to give a copy of your passport and two photographs
for military check purposes
• We will prepare a letter, a copy of the legal papers, together with the copy of your passport and send them to the Army Headquarters in Izmir for clearance. This process will take between 6 to 8 weeks.
• The check is carried out to ensure that the land you are buying does not for within any
military zone.
• On the day of transfer of the property to you, our colleagues in Bodrum will go to the Title Deeds Office and complete the paperwork. The paperwork consists of all the legal issues (title deeds, land registry etc) and financial issues. Financial affairs are concluded, signatures exchanged and the title deeds of your property are registered in your name.
