Mortgages in Bulgaria are still a fairly new prospect. In fact, it was not until 2001 that the first mortgage bond was launched in the country. And it was only at the end of 2004 that the first mortgages to foreigners purchasing in Bulgaria were introduced. However, now increasingly more Bulgarian banks are entering the market and popularising this method of financing with locals and foreigners alike.
